What the add text to photo tool does
This tool lets you overlay a line of text onto an image entirely in your browser, then download the result as a PNG. You choose the image, you type the text, you pick a color, and the canvas shows you the result in real time. When you are happy with it, download it and use it wherever you need it.
The tool is intentionally simple: one line of text, one color, centered placement. It is not a replacement for a full design application — it is the tool you reach for when you need a quick text overlay in under a minute and do not want to open Photoshop or Canva to do it.
Privacy note: your image is loaded into a browser canvas — a rendering technology built into every modern browser. The image data never leaves your device and is never sent to a server. This page has no server upload functionality at all. Your photo stays on your phone or computer the entire time.
How to use the tool
- Click the Photo input and select an image from your device. JPG, PNG, WebP, and other common image formats are supported.
- Type your text in the Text field. This is the message that will appear on the image. Keep it short — one clear phrase or a short sentence reads best as an overlay.
- Pick a text color using the color picker. White or light yellow works on dark backgrounds. Dark text works on light backgrounds.
- Preview updates in real time as you make changes. The text appears centered on the image.
- Click Download image to save the result as a PNG file to your device.
For a styled text overlay, copy a Unicode styled phrase from the fancy text generator and paste it into the text field. The canvas renders Unicode characters, so bold, script, or other styled text appears in the overlay exactly as it looks in the generator.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

Why is the download a simple PNG?
This is a lightweight overlay tool, not a full design application. It creates a PNG preview of the text centered on your image. For multi-layer editing, custom fonts, or different export formats, use a dedicated design app like Canva, GIMP, or Photoshop.
Can I add more than one line of text?
The current version centers a single line of text on the image. For multi-line captions, download the overlay from this tool and then open it in a full photo editor to add additional text layers with custom positioning.
